What are the benefits from the Silver Antibacterial Water System (ABWU)?

  • Water can be treated directly in the pipeline with antimicrobial
  • Ability to restrain microbes at a steady and controlled rate
  • Assurance of reducing bacterial contamination to any surface washed by the antimicrobial water
  • Continuous elimination of unpleasant odours by addressing the cause of malodorous  rather than covering it up
  • Restrain bacteria, mould and fungi proven to cause disease, odour and related health problems
  • Harmless to all materials as the treated water is safe to use everywhere
  • Kills bacteria in any surfaces keep in contact with antimicrobial water
  • No change to taste, smell or colour of the treated water
  • No risk in relation to occupational health and safety of workers
  • Reduction in the risk of bacterial food contamination
  • Remove particles, suspended solids and chlorine
  • Remove unpleasant taste, odour and colour from incoming water

How does the Silver Antibacterial Water System (ABWU) work?

  • The Silver Antibacterial Water System is installed to the water inlet pipe so all water that enters the premises will pass through the system.
  • The water flows through the filter media to remove chlorine, colors, unpleasant odour and taste, suspended solids, particles and turbidity. At this point, the filtered water is now in a suitable state for the addition of the silver.
  • A flow sensor is used continually to detect the flow rate of filtered water prior flow to the Silver Electrode Device and transmits the flow information to the CPU. In turn, this CPU controls a precisely calculated release amount of silver ion from the electrode and also ensures the water flow through the electrode device, which is functioning normally.
  • Silver Electrode Device is the core of the Silver Antibacterial Water System, it is responsible for releasing a precisely calculated amount of silver into the filtered water. After deposite of the silver ion into the water, the antimicrobial water is ready to be distributed throughout the building with the effect which restrains a range of bacteria, mould and fungi. The treated water from the Silver Antibacterial Water System is well within the National Health and Medical Research Council's Stringent Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. In other words, whilst the water that is processed by the unit is antimicrobial, it is completely safe to drink and use in all normal applications.

Whatever the application of Silver Antibacterial Water System (ABWU)?

  • Municipal Water Treatment Plants
  • Domestic Drinking Water
  • Household application such as washing vegetable, washing dishes, washing floor, washing clothes, shower, daily drinking water, cooking ….. etc.
  • Cooling Towers
  • Commercial Buildings, bathroom
  • Aged Care Facilities
  • Child Care Centres
  • Vet Clinics
  • Hospitals
  • Hotels
  • Kitchens
  • Food Processing Plants
  • Processing Equipment
  • Food Preparation Areas
  • Fish and Seafood Retailers
  • Agriculture
  • Horticulture
  • Any area require to eliminate the growth or kill bacteria

In situation as food processing plant and preparation, where scrapes and waste regularly end up on the floor, a simple wash down at the finish of operation will ensure a better environment for the next shift or work day. Not only will there be a greatly reduced chance of bacterial contamination, you will find that unpleasant odours caused by decomposing waste will vanish

Where can the Silver Ion Antibacterial Technology be applied to?

Silver Ion Antibacterial technology is a core technology of the CCT products,It can be applied to water treatment equipment and /or plant and other processing equipment, i.e.: Silver Ion Antibacterial Unit can be installed at outlet of your existing water treatment plant or filters, once it is installed, the water of POU (Point Of Use) becomes antimicrobial with the ability to inhibit a range of bacteria, algea, mould and fungi and decrease the waterborne health risks.

Some samples of applications

  • Domestic and industrial evaporative coolers
  • Metal cutting machines using water based cutting oils
  • water Processing Equipment

CCT has developed a range of mineral ion and products with this technology to meet customers' needs.

How does the ABWU produce the water possessing antibacterial ability?

As CPU of the Silver Antibacterial Water System gets the flow information from flow sensor, it can control a precisely calculated release amount of silver ion from the Silver Electrode Device into the filtered water so the silver ion is suspended in the water and interacts with bacteria, thus the water possess the ability of antimicrobial.  Unlike silver impregnated cartridge which inhibits the re-growth of bacteria for the cartridge

How does the silver ion interfere in bacterial growth?

Silver has at least three ways to inactivate microorganisms:

  • Attracting to the negative charge of the -S.H. (Sulfidal) group and remove the hydrogen atoms surrounding the surface of bacterial or viruses to inhibit respiration, thus inactivating with the microorganisms.
  • Binding with D.N.A. in microorganisms to prevent unwinding and replication and control bacteria growth.
  • Reacting with the surface of bacteria and impairing cell membranes, thus silver ion attach respiration site to cause death by suffocation.

The basic background of silver

  • The principal of using metals for water purification goes back hundreds of years. The effectiveness of elemental silver as an anti-bacterial agent is nearly as old as mankind itself. Its amazing properties are probably the basis for the large monetary value that has been placed on a mineral that was comparatively easy for early man to locate, mine and smelt.  Throughout history, documentation points to uses of the metal to fight or retard the growth of single celled organisms. The Egyptians mention it in their writings, the Roman Empire stored wine in silver urns to prevent spoilage, and the Chinese emperor’s and their courts ate with silver chopsticks.  The Druids have left evidence of their use of it and in later times the American settlers put silver dollars in milk to stop it spoiling and the use of silver leaf to combat infection in wounds sustained by troops during WW1 is well known and detailed.
  • In fact the use of silver as disinfectant properties has been known for centuries (Laubush 1971). History is full of examples in which silver has been used for its purification properties. According to Russell (1994), Aristotle advised Alexander the Great to boil water and store in silver vessels to prevent waterborne diseases. Pioneers who crossed America placed silver coins in their water barrels. Vikings would line the hull their ships with strings of silver and copper for the same purpose (Laubush 1971). Although most early civilizations did not fully comprehend the antibacterial properties of silver, it was widely understood that adding silver to water increased clarity, reduced odours and improved taste. Until recently, silver water purification techniques had fallen out of favour for more fast acting methods such as chlorination.
  • Silver electrochemistry methods were re-examined in the 1960s, NASA selected a silver system after testing 23 different methods of purification and developed an electrolytic silver ionizer to purify drinking water in the Apollo spacecraft.  NASA now uses silver for the CO2 chemsorption process on board the Challenger space shuttles and the international space station (NASA 2004). The Soviets use silver to sterilize recycled water aboard their space stations.
  • Many of the world’s airlines, led by the Swiss, use silver water filters to protect passengers against diseases such as dysentery.  Silver has also been effectively used to replace chlorine in swimming pool and spa water.  When used in this application it does not sting the eyes or discolour blond hair.
  • Today silver is used to prevent infections in burnt patients, preventing blindness in newborns, bacteria-free cosmetics, disinfecting water storage containers including swimming pools, controlling Legionella bacteria in hospitals and to improve the performance of drinking water filters. Recent research has also shown that silver may be used as an alternative to conventional municipal water and wastewater treatment processes
